But, since I'm half - Thai let me give you some fast facts.....

Thailand was historically known as Siam or Siamese....

Little known facts:

The longest reigning monarch in the world His Royal Highness King Bhumibol Adulyadej

Siamese Cats, Siamese Fighting Fish & Siamese Twins all come from or were first discovered in Thailand.

The Song "One night in Bangkok" was made in reference to the famous or sometimes infamous nightlife of Thailand.

Thailand is part of the Golden Triangle where 90% of the Heroin, Opium & Thai Stick once came from.

Thailand's Women are also known for their beauty, winning Miss Universe twice, the last in 1988, 1st in 1968, also runner-up to Miss World 1989, Miss Asia 1989, and Miss Teen 1990.

Home of the Biggest Crocodile Farm & Restaurant in the World.

Home of the largest fresh water fish species, Mekhong River.

Tiger Woods is half Thai

Notorious for The Death Railway in WWII between Thailand and Burma, also for declaring war on The US in WWII.

Only Country in ASIA to keep its independence and never to be colonized by a foreign power.

Home of the most lethal fighting art "Muay Thai" or Thai Boxing.

The Movie & Book "infamous" "King & I" or "Anna and the King" was in reference too, (Although the movie is a insult to the Thai Monarchy, people and it's culture, I do understand the entertainment aspects of the movie although it is said to be based on the true life story of Anna. This is insulting in the sense that through out the movie she argues and teaches the Thai King, known as one of the most respected Thai kings in Thai history. How would would the English feel to see a Asian in the English royal court arguing, standing in defiance, insulting and teaching Queen Elizabeth I ? I personally find the movie "Prejudice"

Ok Ok Ok enough of the complaining........Other notable movies, "Bridge over the River Kwai" "The Beach" Rambo III, "Good Morning Vietnam" And one of the James bond movie's? hehehe I forgot.....lol

Capital is Bangkok, Other notable cities are Phuket, Pattaya & Cheng Mai.

Borders Burma, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia.

Hmmm.........well, I will finish the section with factual history when I have more time.....:-))

byes......
